i would say go with the first one, marine depot is selling that fixture for 299$ and it comes with everything you need, and you would be able to hold more corals/clams under that lighting.
that is the exact light im looking to get, but right now i dont have enough money for it MAYBE next year!

To be completely honest, the Aquamedic fixture would be a great addition to your 20gal tank. However the 250w does provide more useful light and would be a better choice especially if you plan to upgrade in the future.

Sure, heat can be an issue with any MH. If you experience heat issues, you will need to make sure your canopy is well ventilated and if needed, add a fan or 2.
As far as a 250w light being an overkill; you can never add too much light to a tank. ![]() SCott Z. |

Yeah that's a pretty good deal, I am pretty sure you'll be pleased with it as well.
![]() Do you plan to use anything for actinics or just running the MH? If you are just going to run the MH and like a lot of blue, go for the 20k bulb otherwise go for the 10k. |

No I don't think you will need to incorporate the 4x13 watt if your going with a 20k. It;s a personal preference though; I run my 10ks alone, no actinic supplementation.

I wouldn't bother with any type of covering over the tank.
Optimum height would be between 7" and 11". Scott Z. |

No I would not do a covering. It can reduce the amount of light that penetrates through the water column and can cause an additional heat problem; more so that a MH being 6" from the surface.
