I have an acrylic canopy that covers my 12G flat back hex. I want to mount 6-8 13W PC's from AH Supply inside. The inside of the canopy is all black. Should i paint the inside with some special paint, should i line it with aluminum foil? Also, after doing this is it neccesary to space the lights a certain distance awawy form the top of the canopy, or do i not have to worry about that since its only 13 watters.
Thanks, Todd [This message has been edited by todd_nano (edited 05-18-2001).] |

I'm not sure how hard it would be to get paint to stick to the acrylic but if you can paint it then I would recommend that you use a flat white paint because it reflects light very well (that's why they use flat white in movie/photography studios). As afr as how far to moun the PCs from the hood I would allow about 1/2 inch between the bulb and the hood, also make sure that the hood has some kind of vents in it so that heat can escape. Good luck, Skip

I actually use Aluminum flashing, found at Home Depot or Lowes.
Cut it with tin snips to size, bend it into the corners/angles, then polish it up nice with a little rubbing compound, followed by a little polishing compound. Gets a nice bright durable surface that lasts forever. Don't forget to use gloves when cutting and bending as the edges are usually sharp. ------------------ Mark Play Well |
