    65w Pc 50/50?

ok i have a 50 gal tank with some zoos in it. have about 35-40lb of LR. wanted to change the 50/50 bulbs to 10-20k full bulbs then buy another light unit for VHO or PC to run a 96W Actinic. would this work or would the 50/50 65W be good enough for the lower light corals if i added more.

cost wise i cant afford the MH yet.

I'm not too sure on what your asking. You currently have 50/50 PC's and want to change them to a 10k PC and then add another PC or VHO for actinic? Yes, this would be good as adding any PC, VHO, T-5 or MH to an exisiting lighting scheme is beneficial. Or your asking will keeping the current 50/50 and adding additional 50/50 would be ok? From this standpoint, it depends on what you think looks best. If you like the 50/50's then they will be ok. If you like 10k's with true actinics then that is fine too.

i just wanted to be sure i am getting enough light for my tank. since i only have 65W 2 50/50 bulbs. was gonna make them the 10-20k bulbs and then add with them the single VHO 96W (or so) Actinic. figured that would be bright enough with spectrum

Sounds like a decent plan to me. I am wondering though if your going to do VHO and get the ballast, why not add another bulb?

well actually what i really want to do is finish building my canopy and mount mycurrent PC fixture to it then add a retro fit MH 175W bulb to center. i think that would be all i need.

i want to eventually move into cooler coral, but only have lighting for softies with the 65W. i would add another bulb with the VHO, but planned to just buy fixture from hardware store to save cost.
