LOA Light for Sump Refugium

Got an Amiracle Wet Dry that I'm using as a sump (underneath in cabinet). 1st chamber is for the skimmer, 3rd is for the RIO to return to tank. I'm gonna convert the 2nd chamber into a refugium. I've seen posts about Lights of America 65W fixture for this. Is this recommended? Does anyone know the model number of it? I was on LOA's site and cant find it. Also, where can I get it (Home D?)?

Any other advice on setting up the refugium would also be helpful.

I use one of these on my refugium (5 gal), man the macro growth has taken off. Have C. racemosa, and Razor caulerpa (can't remember species name)and both are growing extremely fast! Not to mention the 3 different types of Xenia that have been exiled in there.

I got mine at home depot for about $25 on sale. Great stuff for cheap.

Ok, I looked at the model(9266) and liked what I saw. What about grounding it, how do you do it? I was told(by HD) you can't ground it because it is mostly plastic. I bought it and intend on making it work but I do want it grounded. Need some advise please. Is the bulb that came with it ok to use - k rating?

The bulb is 6500K, check the website, www.lightsofamerica.com look under Flourex lighting. You could run a small screw with a wire through the reflector to use as a ground, the housing is plastic, and the reflector is about the only metal in the light.

Grounding these isn't terribly difficult, but you're really only going to ground the reflector inside, which is what you really want for ANY flourescent bulb. Anyway, dissassemble the fixture glass and body, remove bulb, get a ground wire (green) attach an eye to the end and screw or rivit it into the reflector, run the wire into the ballast area and out through the mounting pole with the hot and neg wires. You may also want to drill several holes in the body of the unit to allow some extra cooling, remember that these are meant for outdoor/night use and are mostly sealed. I had a problem with the heat from these. Bill.
