Post quick ??

i went from a 30 watt lighting system to 80 watts a couple of months ago. just recently my tank water got real green colored. could the lighting be causing this. if so what can i do about it.

Killian,

Algal blooms may be caused by increase in lighting intensity, but most likely it is caused from excess nutrients in the water column. Have you tested your water quality since the water became green? I would check it for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and Phosphates.

What inhabitants do you have in your tank?
