eclipse 3 hood
i am considering buying an eclipse 3 hood it comes with 250gph filter and 5500k daylight, full-spectrum flourescent lighting, they are 18 watts each. It would be for a 29 gallon FOWLR, i would also be using UGF and 2 powerheads, with a protein skimmer as well. I am going to be using 33 lbs. of tonga branch live rock.
My question is this- Has anyone evr had good luck with this hood and would these 2 18 watt bulbs be able to support any type of low light invert, coral etc.? any help would be great thanks |

I don't think the lighting would be sufficient for any coral unless it was a non-photosynthetic sp.
Also, in your post you mention the use of a UGF; this is a very bad idea that you should reconsider. Do a search on the forum for under gravel filter and do some reading.Scott Z. |

I have one with two 65w PC's under the cover where the NO's used to be and it works ok. If I would do it again, just get a HOT skimmer, canopy, PC's , and some PH's and do a DSB. That would be a much better filter system than the eclipse can offer and the equipment can be used on other size aquariums if you change.
