Andrew,
There doesn't seem to be much of a reflector in that fixture?
Aquabays.
I am thinking of using some of these 400w se aquabays units, over my tank.

And am thinking of using a mixture of BLV 20k, BLV 10k and Iwasaki 6.5k.
But as i would only be able to fit in one 6.5k i was wonderin would the light have much affect on the sps corals at the end of the tank, as the tank if 7 foot long sps tank. The lights will be around 15" above the water line.

yeah the pic is a bit c**p, but there is one in there, its a bit like the maxigrow ones, i dont know if you get maxigrow over there?
well its like one of those but in a fixture.
i was thinking of having 5 400w units over the tank with blv 20k and either blv 10k or 6.5k iwasaki bulbs, like this:
...20k...6.5k...20k...6.5k...20k...
or i coulduse my existing 250w units with 20k blubs like this:
.......20k.......20k.......20k.......
...10k...6.5k...10k...6.5k...10k...
or i could swap the 20k and 10k round in this one?
andrew
I think that any combination would work just fine considering that you are going to have so much total intensity with all of those lights over a 7-ft tank.
Just go with whatever you like best as long as you can deal with the heat and other side effects.
I prefer the looks of a mixture of 10,000K and 20,000K with a little actinic supplementation but a mixture of 6500K and 20,000K would be fine although it would require more actinic supplementation to look similar to the 10,000K & 20,000K combo.
If you are not going to have any actinic supplementation at all, then I think the 10,000K/20,000K combo would look best.

yeah i dont think i will be able to fit any actinics in, but im looking into it.
so i may go for the 20k and 10k mix then say 3 20k and 2 10k![]()
