Currently I am pondering about an Aqualight 4X96W 48" ($499) for a 90 gallon. I've also considered MH's, obviously because they are much better. But the cost of MH is pointing me towards the aqualight. I would like to keep softies and SPS corals. Any suggestions?

If you use a 36" reflector you can use 1 - 400W bulb and a couple of 110W VHO's. If you have a canopy or make your own you can do a retrofit of the above system for just slightly more than the Aqualight with a much cooler looking tank. I have a 90 gal set up like the above. In the center 2' you can grow any SPS and on each end any LPS or soft corals. I have all types in mine.

I do have a canopy, so that would seem to be a great idea. Do you ever run into heat problems? Do you run fans under your canopy?

One 4" fan blowing in at one end and one 4" fan blowing out at the other does the trick. Ambient room temp. is kept at 80F or lower.
