    PFO VHO Lighting

Would a 2 bulb setup be appropriate for a 55 gallon? Standard size, kinda deep. I just want to keep live rock and fish. Mainly going to Corraline growth on the rocks. Want to get the most out of the expensive live rock.

    Hi Justler,

That will be perfect lighting for a FOWLR and will help bring out the brilliant colors of the fish. It's not necessarily going to grow coralline algae; appropriate calcium and alkalinity levels will be the largest influence on the coralline growth.

Can I grow Coralline with regular flourescents, or do I need something on the magnitude of VHO/PC or Metal-Halide?

Different species of coralling algae grow in different conditions. Some do better in high light, high flow areas, other's do better in low light, low flow areas. With that said, with proper calcium and alkalinity levels, and some coralline algae to get things started, you should have no problem as your system stands.

    Another Lighting Question

I have an AGA reef ready. 48" L x 18" W x 18" D with an overflow box measuring about 15" D x 6" x 6". I am slowly getting equipment together piece by piece because of financial constraints. I, too, am going fowler but will eventually add some beginner corals. What I want to know is what VHO lighting is best for this kind of set-up?
