Yup. EYE is the company that makes the Iwasaki brand lighting. The Iwasaki is actually a Mercury Vapor conversion bulb, meaning that it was originally designed to be operated on a Mercury Vapor ballast, while having metal halide characteristics.
The EYE ballast is simply a Mercury Vapor ballast. It will not operate MH lamps, other than the Iwasaki. People claim that with this ballast the lamp appears brighter, and is much less yellow. Using a Iwasaki 6500k lamp, and a MV ballast is a great alternative to spending big bucks on a low output 10k, or a high output HQI 10k. If you only intend on using a Iwasaki, but don't want it to look yellow, this is probably the way to go.

thanx, thats exactly what I wanted to hear!

Oh yeah, do EYE ballasts put out a lot of heat? I plan on getting the dual ballast for my birthday and building the hood over the summer. I want Iwasakis I'm pretty sure so I guess I'll get that one.
Thanks again,
Andrew
Are you going with 400's or 250's?? if your not sure you should get the standard MH ballast if your going with 250's. I have read the standard MH ballast runs the 250's better then the EYE ballast.
250w mh performs better with iwaski than mv . 400wMV is better with mv ballast. But with 20% error it doesn't matter. IME i've seen them both and I can't really tell which is whiter. 400w a little but not really. I would go with mh cuz you can use all bulbs6.5,10,12,20k,ect... and aren't limited.
IWASAKI makes electronic MH ballasts for 70,100 and 150watt .
I was confused when somebody said EYE ballast.![]()
