45 breeder lighting
Im trying to decide what kind of lighting I want to use for my 45 breeder. The tank is 36"l x18"w x16" h with a glass center brace. I plan on keeping a mixed reef but mostly stoneies. Would also like to keep an RBTA. I think I have it narrowed down to 2 options.
Option 1. 1.1 Mogul 250 MH 10k with actinic supplements. Option 2. 2 Mogul 175w MH 10k with actinic supplements For the actinics I am going to use either VHO or T5. What would be the pros and cons of the 2. Which do yall think would be the best choice? I have not had any experience with MHs VHOs or T5s. I have been using PC, and a ton of it up until now. Thanks, Mike |

I like the 1-250w option. You can get a bit more spread out of the light fixture by hanging it higher than one would over a standard sized aquarium since you are only working with 16" of water column. The ends of the tank will be a bit less lit than the rest but that's a good opportunity for other things as well.
