Actinic Blue?
Hello,
Just curious as to what the purpose of the Actinic Blue 03 lights are? Sure they look cool over some corals, and really make them flouresce, but it makes it hard to see the true beauty of everything in the tank. Are they to be used at night? I know my cousin has one in addition to his 50/50 powercompact bulb, and I really dont see it with the alternate lighting. Then when I go to the pet shop, they have 2 flourecent actinic bulbs over there tanks, and its just so hard to see everything in it. Why are they used and what is the purpose?

They are NOT meant to be the ONLY light on the tank. They are designed to enhance the colors of the fish and corals. I use one 6ft VHO actinic in conjunction with my Metal halides lamps. I agree with you though, if they ARE the only light on the tank looks weird, and hard to look at for long periods.
