What To Use For Tank Cover
I was just wondering....if I don't want to build a canopy for my 55 gallon tank but want to use a pc set up that would fit my tank....what can I cover the tank with? I don't want to use glass as I don't feel right about sealing the animals up in an environment not very ideal for holding large amounts of oxygen.
I thought of some kind of screen...like black acrylic or something like they use for front screen doors...but I wonder how that would look and wouldn't it cut down on my lighting system efficiency? |

What about egg crate? It looks like this stuff: http://www.columbia-elevator.com/acc...vinyl_open.jpg
You can get it at home improvement stores (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.) I have heard you will get some light diffusion from this and your evaporation rate will go up but it sounds exactly what you are looking for. It is something to cover the tank to keep the jumpers in but not seal the air out. |

That's a nice idea but I don't want to put something that "thick" on top of the tank. It would be very noticeable as well as diffuse too much precious light.
![]() Thanks for the suggestion though. |
