Possible Retrofit or not?

Ok, I gave my kids a small gift by taking an old 10gallon All Glass tank and giving them some low maintenance fish, cleanup critters, and a couple of pieces of live rock with live sand to give them an opportunity to experience the hobby first hand, and to add some living art to the mayhem of Yugi-oh cards and PS2 paraphernalia!!! At this point, it looks great with various Damsels, a fire clown and a blenny. My question was in relation to the lighting and what I can do to upgrade it. It currently uses the stock 15Watt flourescent bulb, that I believe is a straight pin, 2 prong thingy. I would like to upgrade to an 18W 50/50 or go a bit higher because I would like to have a Sebae Anemone for the clown to hang out with.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi apantale,

I think going with an Anemone in a tank this small is not a good idea. Anemone needs prestine water conditions that remain very stable; the latter being hard to supply in such a small tank.

Anyhow on the lighting, you should be able to find a small PC kit with 2 bulbs relatively cheap. These little PC's would look great on a 10 gallon tank! One of those little 20" Current USA Orbit PC's lights would work great!

Thanks Reefland. I did see those on ebay and was thinking about that anyways. You just confirmed it for me. I already have an Orbit for my 35 gallon and i love it tremendously.. I like it too much that I am getting some algae buildup

Thanks again
