I just got one of these for my 72 bow and was wondering if their was any truth to this being good for the tank and the livestock in it.

I am suspecting your talking about using these for a moonlight simulation? If so, there has been no supporting evidence either way. It has even been mentioned that these lights can be harmful although for as little light as they produce I don't see how. I think they would be fine for night time viewing but I wouldn't expect to see mass spawnings or anything different that what you see now from using them.
