They look like grow lites for plants, probably not the right "K" rating for corals. At least I couldn't find the Kelvin rating. HTH.
Has anyone used these or know anything about them?

I see that they have 10k bulbs in the 3 different wattages for a cheap price but they don't list the manufacturer.
Just didn't look hard enuf, huh?

It says Aquarium Lights but that is all that they list under them. Personally I would prefer to stay with lighting options that are tried and true instead of saving a few bucks.
They are not Ushio brand. I will check into them a little more and see what I can come up with. They are sure a good price as long as they don't have a large shipping and handling charge.

I called and they said they made by Pulse in China, they have free ground shipping and have 10k 175, 250 & 400w. The have a CRI of 65 which I'm told is not that good. I'm upgrading from 175w 10k Hamiltons to 250's. Just wondering if anyone has used these. I'll probably go with 14k 250w Coral Vue's. Like Reefland says "Tried and True".
I think for that price it would be worth a buy, just to test one. They sure look familiar. They might be Coralvue's. 99% of the bulb sellers won't tell you who really makes their bulbs, but most are coming out of China these days.

Please let me know if you decide to get these. We are planning on setting up our 150, and we're going to need to purchase some MH lighting. If you have a good experience please let me know.
Hey, are you the same tekkno form michiganreefers?
Anyway, I decided to go with CoralVue 10k 250's and consequently had to change my ballasts as well.
Their still breaking in, but my tank looks much better so far. My Xenia started pumping again 1 hour after turning on the new lights! I'll let you know how things look after 100 hours.
Yes, same tekkno. And on RC and several others.Originally Posted by rainchief
I just ordered 2 to test out against my 400Watt Ushio 10K when I emailed them they said the where made by a plus lighting. @ $40 bucks its worth a shot anything has to be better than that ushio.
Please keep us posted Troy!
I agree, I am kind of worried about the longevity of the bulb though. At $40 bucks, it sounds like a heck of a deal, but sometimes you ghet what you pay for. Give 'em a test and let us know!! Any pics you can take would help!!Originally Posted by rainchief

Ok so they got here and I threw one in where the ushio 10k was and it fired right up. it is a nice crisp white and really good intensity. I will try to post a picture in a second
OK I have attached a picture of my 315g with a single 400Watt 10K plus lighting MH Bulb w/ and w/o actinics
How long has those lights been on there now? I was just curious to see if you get an algae bloom.

Hi TROY182, welcome to Reefland!
Would you happen to have a LUX meter to compare this bulb and the Ushio?
no luxmeter sorry
I replaced the bulbs a couple of weeks ago for the following reasons
1. 3" of hair algea covering everything
2. drastic differences in percieved spectrum of same bulbs
3. XM 10K's where on sale
I probably should have just got them 6 months ago and saved myself some problems.
