Hi Rig,
Pretty cool looking fixture. If you like the blue color better then the 20k bulb is the better choice. I have not had any personal experience with either the Coralife or the XDE bulbs but I would expect the XDE's to be the better choice.![]()
Hi,
Well, coralife has released my dream product, that will allow me to have a convienient, nice looking, no-holes-in-the-landlord's-ceiling mh system... time for the upgrade and the anenome i've wanted, well after a couple more mos.
Anyway, this is the unit,

I'm confused about what bulb to go with, I really like the actinic look, so I guess I want the 20k? I have no idea though what the difference is between the coralife 150w 20k and this XDE 150w 20k is? Could anybody help me out? Thanks.

some guy over on rc apparently liked that mh unit so much he had it as his avatar, i was reading a post by him, saw that and was like wtf, thats what I've been wishing existed.

I also have a PC unit (4/96 Watt w/moon lights). If I purchase the subject MH, I would continue to operate my PCs and use the new unit as a lighting supplement. I would think that you can get some benefit from keeping the 2/65s.

It'd be impossible to squeeze it all above a 26G bow, I think the 150W MH will be plenty, and with the 20k should be blue enough. I might get a moonlight though, I've started to really like having that.
What length is your PC ORBIT? I am in the market to buy one. Maybe we can work something out!
its the 24" model
crud, its not gona fit on the back of my tank. Looks like my cpr aquafuge is going to have to go.. I figure metal halide will be better for my corals than than a little extra nitrates that the fuge maybe sucks up? right?
I don't know that I would remove a producing fuge, don't under estimate their benefits. There has got to be some way to mount the unit??
I tried, but the bulky return from the fuge is right in the way and I tried rearranging things however I could. The tank is pretty heavily skimmed, a remora on a 26G. The chaeto barely grows. And its a pretty small 12" fuge, so I was assuming the lights would be better? I have a 6-line, so the pods are pretty much dead either way... what do you think?
If the tank is 24" long, why not hang the light on the side?
I can't get that darn link to work, can anybody throw a pic of what you are talking about. Sounds like a good deal though!!!

It looks like that unit is pretty adjustable, could it be mounted on the back of the fuge and adjusted to light the display adeuately?
I'm not positive, but that was my latest thought too, mounting on either the front or back of the fuge. I ordered the thing, because I want it either way, so we'll see, hopefully it will fit on the fuge, might have to put in a spacer or something. Then i just have to find some way to deal with the fuge light. Also a little nervous the added weight of the light might be bad news for the hang on fuge, but it looks pretty sturdy.
