I have Triton Enhancer for my VHO's, they wrap around the lights and you can fit 3 in each. Well I'm going to go with the 250's at 10k and try both the T5's and the VHO's and see which I like the best.

With the T5's I have two 2 bulb ballast so I can run 2 actanics and 2 10 or 14k's. or 2 T5's and 2 VHO's. I just want the 10k for 2 hours before and after my MH's so that I just don't blast my tanks inhabitance all at once and then go from total light to total darkness.

I think that since the VHO ballast will run any or all lights at once. That if I put a 4 way limit switch on the wires to 2 of the lights. I should be able to put it on a timer, which will kill the power to all 4 wires at once just the same as not having the lights hooked up at all. That should would work. With the limit off, would let the ballast know to power all 4 bulbs. With the limit on, the ballast would think that only 2 bulbs were on the system. I'd just have to make sure that the limit was on bulbs 3 and 4. Basicly the same as a DIY wave maker. Any thought on this.

i think no need to, but you sound like me, play with it untill you can set back and say aaawwww yeah now thats what i am talking about no since in spending all this time and energy, not to mention the money, if were not going to play with it. personaly i only use timers to turn on the lights. when i get home i might turn one off or two or not or turn them all off then back on again later. my corals react very well to this. i think corals like all living things need a little stress to be at there best. most people put the same lights on at the same time and keep them on untill they turn off at the same time everyday. for me i like to randomly change the lights, like a cloud goes by or when it rains, in the "wild" sun light never remains constant like most reefers tanks. hell sometimes i dont even turn the lights on all day. sometimes i actually try to mimic the wheater outside as the day goes. usually on rainy days when there is nothing else going on. but the corals have reacted very well. my friend started to do this and said his coral liked it too.
