Maximum Wattage supported by the Eclipse 3
Does anyone know the maximum wattage bulb this unit can hold? The bulbs it comes with are the T8-18W dual, and 36 watts is not enough to support my 29 gallon. What types of bulbs would be good to place in it? It is a freshwater tank. I was thinking of going with a Floraglo and a powerglo, but not sure if the eclipse could handle a higher wattage bulb, or if it would just run it at 18 watts. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, I would really like to stick with this hood.

I am not sure, but I think those fixtures are made for the bulbs that they come with. Is this a planted tank? If not, the fish won't really care what lites are on there. HTH

Yes, this is a planted tank. The bulbs it comes with are only 18 watts each, this is a 29 gallon. That is a little more than 1 w per gallon, I would like to be around 2.

Why don't you look into power compacts or t-5?
