Question T5 ballasts ok for a power compact?

Hey Everyone

Can I use 65 wat T5 ballasts for my 65 wat power compact light? My original ballast has broken and I cant get a high enough wattage PC ballast here in Thailand, but can get T5 ballast in the same wattage. Is it ok?

Brett

I really don't think it is a good idea to do that. I would check with the manufacturer and make sure.

I think it depends on the Ballast, I know IceCap says their ballast will light t5, VHO, or PC, as long as the wattage falls within tolerances....

Thanks for the help. I live in Thailand at the moment so getting a serious ballast like Icecap is not a valid option due to corrupt import department practices. I can get a local brand, but only a T5. I will try contacting the manufacturer - Current USA to see what they think. But the last time I emailed them I got no reply - I may be stuck with a stuffed light I think LOL
