Question about lighting.

I'm sorry guys but this might be a really stupid question. I just bought a 46g bowfront and the hood only has one light. In the future I would like to do a reef setup. Do you need more than one light for the fish and corals? If not, what would you recommend. I am really inexperienced in lighting, that is why I am starting out with a FOWLR setup. Any replies would be appreciated.

If it was me, I would try and get my hands on as many books as is humanly possible, do a bunch of research and go from there. You can weed out what you have to, but this would be a good start. there are alot of companies that make the lites you are going to need for a reef setup. For a FOWLR, I would start out with PC's or VHO's. You can check into them on a couple of sites that are sponsors here at Reefland, Marine Depot or Premium Aquatics, for instance.
