Did my LFS sell me outdated lighting??

When I purchased my tank/stand/canopy from a LFS, I also bought a PC light kit consisting of 2 96w bulbs (1 6700k & 1 7100k) as part of the package. Now that I decided to install MH lighting, I've been looking for a second 96w 7100k bulb but can't find them... they are evidently European style, 4 pins in a straight row.

The LFS has them, but I was hoping to find them online and save some $$$. Since I can't find them anywhere, I'm wondering if I got sold something that's not "standard". The light kit is made by Jalli.

BTW, I tried Lampsnow.com and they don't have them. Boy, I should have researched this one better...

    Lyle,
You should be able to find them. I think there German bulbs. Try www.exoticfish.com If Jeff doesn't have them on his web page call him and ask him. If he doesn't have them in stock ask him for Hamilton lighting's phone number.

Thanks Mark... I just talked with Jeff and he thinks he can get them. Unfortunatly, he doesn't think too highly of the PC system I have (Jalli), which I've been hearing from others as well, so I'm going to look at other PC lighting options to supplement the 2 250w 10k MH's I have installed.

    Lyle,
Do you really think you need to supplement 10k's ? I use 2x250 watt 10K's (HQI's) I like the looks, but then again that's me and you may like a bluer tank.....

I'm glad Jeff was able to help.

the four pin base is german and is a 2g11 base. I know that www.ffexpress.com carries them, but i have only purchased the 55watt version. I am not sure about the 96w. You will have to call their 1-800 number and ask them for the bulbs, for I dont think they are on the website. I got the 55w for $20 each, which I thought was a great deal. hth

I have a Jalli and JBJ fix each with German straight pins and I believe that each wire is snapped onto each bulb pin, not with a receptacle. So, I think you can use the more available Japanese square pin by rearranging the wires, yes? Unfortunately I don't know which 2 are the negs and which 2 are the hots on either of these bulbs. Anyone know?? If yours is just wires or if it has a receptacle, you may want to change them to the 4 pin square receptacle which are available at , premium aquatics.com , and many others I'm sure. Bill.
