Hey Samper,

You might try to contact Hamilton Directly to see if you can get some help from them.

Are those the double-ended lamps? Are you running them on an HQI (M80) ballast?

After only 4 months, this is exactly what I would be doing. How far were the bulbs from the water? I bet that when you get hold of Hamilton, they will help you out!!! Good luck and let us know.

Yes they are DE lamps and they are being fired by an HQI ballast.

Bulb is 12" from the water but it has a glass shield over it.

Contacted Hamilton.....they are sending me another brand new bulb which should be here in a week all I have to do is return the defective one to them. Until then I'll use my old 20k and deal with it. Nice of Hamilton to have good customer service like that and I appreciate the tip guys.

I prefer a more blue bulb for the colors it brings out but the growth just isn't there and the only option I have for this tank is one halide so I figured I'd go with the 14k

I too am using the 14k hamiltons and I have actually been able to leave my VHO actinics off because the 14k gives so much more blue.
I had some work done by Hamilton (rewiring and ballast upgrade) and am very satisfied! props to those guys.
