Buy a new fan?
Or you could use an adapter from RAdio Shack, they have 12V 250mA transformers for less then 10 bux! |

Certainly, there are many types of converters available. What is special about this fan though, just that you have it available? I know they are costly, but I am very pleased with the Icecap variable speed fans.

RE: Fan
I bought it as a recommendation of a fellow reef keeper. It suppose to be the quietest fan on the market. Also, it advertises smart technology meaning when it detects more heat and increases the speed. The only draw back is that it runs on 12v. which means a transformer. It was only $11 with shipping.

I thought that sounded familiar, I have to of the 90mm on my tank. The speed detection only works for a PC, not like the IceCap fans that cost so much more. These fans are nice, very QUIET, but they also move at a slower RPM and move less air then some of the 80mm fans I have, and I have LOTS of fans!

At first I just used one of those Radio Shack 12v ones. It was around $10 or so. When I added all those others you see I ended up using my 12V 30 AMP supply that I had from when I raced Radio Controlled cars. That supply is pretty expensive and not something most people have around the house... Well R/C Man probably does!
![]() Look on the fan itself, it will say how many milli amps it draws, then go get the appropriate transformer. Just get one a little bigger then it says it draws. Oh yeah, make sure to only use the red and black, just cut the yellow off, it is a signal wire. |
