Does the halide fixture have fans on it?
Some times you can offset the temp with a couple of well placed fans!!
hi,just bought a coralife 48" aqualight 260 watt pc for my 75 gallon and second guessing if I should have went with the aqualight pro 2x150 watt halide with actinics.
I only plan soft corals and other relatively easy ones.
would the halide give a lot nicer light?
big question is how much hotter would it run than the pc?

yes,has a couple of nice fans built into the top
I AM ALSO LOOKING AT THE CORAL LIFE AQUATIC PRO ....ITS THE RETRO FIT STYLE THOUGH, TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION THOUGH, YES IT WILL RUN HOT, AND IF YOUR PUTTING THESE INTO A CANOPY, JUST MODIFY AND RUN A COUPLE OF FANS INSIDE....YOU SHOULD BE O.K......IF ITS ONLY ON TOP OF YOUR TANK WITH NO CANOPY, THEN IN MY OPINION, LIFE IS good !
I got an aqualight pro (not the retrofit) on my 75 - as long as the tank is left uncovered (I finally put those glass covers in a closet), it doesn't get too hot... It is a very nice light system - certainly not too much, but more than you need for soft corals. Mine supports clams and SPS quite well.
I run the A/C all year long though... I guess if your tank gets a little warm, you can just turn down the heat!

Hmmm... now that the tank is full, I could convert the pool to saltwater...

would the 250w be too much for a 26 gallon bowfront? should i just stick with the 150w coralife aqualight pro?
I think you could get by very easily with the 150W. If I read the other post correctly, you were only gonna go with softies, so I think you should be fine. HTH
