lighting help

I'm breaking down my 125 to use it as my sump for my 180
my remodeling project is all most done so I'll be setting my 180 up in a few days
I 've sold most of the stock I didn't like so much so here's my ?
I have a 40 breeder for my qt tank
I have an old set of lights 2 250 se and 1 400 se and a 440 watt ballast
I have sps lps and some softies.I think I'm going to use the 400 watt and the ballast for Actinic
Is this to much light for my 40g for a month or 2 well the 180 cycles
right now I have 3 250 de 10k and 2 150 de 20k om my 125 or should I buy a new light set up?

If you can, just put one of the 250's over the breeder temp tank.

I thought of that but the tank is 3' long and i don't think i can get all my high light corals ad frags in such a small area i was thinking of building a hood around 16" tall to keep the light a way from the water or maybe I'm thinking crazy I don't know maybe I'll grab a 75 g it would be cheaper than new MH
