I have a 155 reef tank that has 2 150 watt hqi 10,000 k bulbs, 2 150 watt hqi 5600 k bulbs and 2 140 watt actinic vho bulbs.
I am looking to "color up" the sps corals as much as possible. The tank looks good now but I'm wondering if there is a better way to go. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Vic |

If you want to "color up" your SPS, you might want to experiment with changing the two 5600K HQI lamps to 20,000K HQI lamps. Also, make your two 140w VHO lamps URI Super Actinics.
You may lose a little total PAR in that switch but you will probably enhance the coloration of some of your SPS, especially pinks, blues and purples. Ninong ![]() P.S. - Another option would be to go with four 10,000K HQI lamps plus the URI VHO Super Actinics.

I would vote for the 4 10k to get a good blend of intensity/color. The only other way to really "color up" the coral is to increase the intensity...ie get higher wattage lighitng.
