lighting period of HQI and actinic
Hi,
If I have both HQI and actinic NOs, what would be a good time period to power on? Is it 2-3 hours actinic, followed with HQI, and then actinic again? Or I should just leave actinic on for 12 hours, with HQI on for a period of 8-10 hours? Appreciate any advise. Thanks. |

A conservative approach would be 12 hrs for actinics and 10 hrs for HQI. A more aggressive approach would be 14 hrs for actinics and 12 hrs for HQI. Or you could split the difference.
I wouldn't go anything less than 10 hrs HQI, especially since your supplemental lighting is only normal output. Ninong

I run my actinic for 13 hours, 2 MH for 11 hours, and an additional MH for 4 houra now.
The 3rd MH is new, so I am trying to work that one up to 7-8 hours. I think Ninong's times are good as a general reference. Keep in mind that light on the equator is around 12 hours. -Perry |
