Question Anyone get new ATI T5 and try?

I get to know that ATI is selling a new T5 with 3 band phosphors which claimed to be better than its former 5 band tubes. Have anyone get these bulbs and how is it compared to the old one. I have asked what difference technology is the 3 band and 5 band phosphors in RC and got a reply.

I think Paul explained it pretty well on RC. The Aquablue already had the highest PAR output of any of the "german" T5's. Only the GE daylight did better. I think there is some validity to ATI's claim that the new lamp will be more stable as far as shifting spectrum but at what price? The old style aquablue is a sweet looking lamp. Judging by the spectrum graph it appears the color will be different. If you are mixing Aquablues and Actinicplus lamps it may actually be an improvement in looks. I liked using a GE 6500 with 2 aquablues and 3 actinic plus lamps in my system because the 50 50 mix of actinicplus and aquablue was a little too blue for me, red and yellow colors in the tank didn't look good.

Grim,

The green and red phosphors found to be much stronger in new ATI tube. I suppose it will be less blue and 3 new Aquablue and 3 Blue+ may have comparable color with your old setup. Do you know new ATI is selling in US now?

I heard ATI was going to stop exporting to the US. I haven't seen their stuff for sale on any of the sites. They have a very cool looking T5 fixture I am sure many here would like to get our hands on.

Grim,

Would those sites selling ATI Aquablue tubes are actually D&D or Giesemann? Aquablue is established as a marketing trademark for T5 bulbs used in reef aquarium.

I haven't seen an ATI lamp sold in the US in a while. ATI and the company that actually builds the lamps (Narva) had a parting of the ways. Sylvania is now making the lamps ATI is selling. D&D/Geisemann are the same lamp, the ones I have are marked Geisemann on the box and D&D on the lamp.

That is same information obtained from my German supplier when I ordered ATI lamps few months ago. Do you know of a new brand AquaScience T5 that acquired the partnership with Narva?

Haven't heard of that brand yet. I have some from a company in Singapore called AquaZ which look really good and have almost as much PAR as the D&D lamps. Not sure if they will have the same longevity.

I heard about it and it is made in China according to the supplier. But regret that it is not available in my area. If you can read German (or by translator), you can find more information about this brand as well as the new ATI.

I have seen the same spectral distributions from Giesemann website.
