Pictures of New Hood
Well I finished the new hood for my tank last weekend and got all the reflectors mounted with new waterproof endcaps and a larger array of bulbs.
2 6500 sunlights 2 aquablue plus 1 actinic + 2 actinic 1 10k 3 led moonlights 1 3" fan 4 ballasts All of the ballasts and on off switches came out of a cheap t-5 light that I bought on ebay that only had 1 solid flat reflector. So I built my hood and purchased the endcaps and standoffs and some new bulbs and reflectors and started working. There is a HUGE difference between the 1 single reflector that I had above all 8 lights and the individual reflectors that I installed for each single bulb. I did have to kind of bend 2 of the reflectors so they werent open so much so that I could fit all 8 of them up under the hood, also I had to offset 4 of the lights on the front part of the hood that opens so they would fit and the rear 4 lights fit perfectly so I didnt need to offset those and the back section of the hood does not open. All of the ballasts I mounted on the back of the hood. Took me the better part of a day to build and install everything. |
