20k or 14K
I was thinking of getting a MH light fixture for my 42 gallon hex tank, but there are options of 14k bulbs or 20k bulbs.. and was wondering which bulb should i get.
All i want is to pop the colors and provide good coral growth rate. any help would be appreciated thanks. |

I have used the AB 20k's and the Phoenix 14k's, I like the 14k's better.

The 14k has slightly less blue to it. Coloration in the corals seem to be the same though, which is much more intense than I had under 10k. So I get a little less blue, and the same coral coloration.

Even though this is my first time with MH I am very happy with my 14k Hamilton, a nice balance of white and blue.

I ran 20K's on my tank up until the radium no longer was guaranteed. Try the 14K. The radiums (20k) are blue, but I had good growth rates with them, and the colors were good too.

10K's aren't an option??? I always thought that a combination of 10 and 20k lites would look good and provide some good growth.
