Unhappy too much light?

I recently purchased a 36 watt PC kit from AHSupply.com as well as a 6400K bulb. I have 2 tiny maroons as well as a bubble tip anemone in a 10 gal tank. I am well pleased with the light kit , however, I do believe that the light may be too intense for my LR and anemone. I turned out the light during the day and the anemone seemed to like it better. With the light on, the anemone shrinks up....lights out, he unfolds
After talking with others, I may need to use a less wattage light. My LR is turning brown on top as well, again, is the light to intense for good coraline growth? I would welcome any ideas or suggestions.......

Did you put the tank through a "breaking in" period? Remember that your inhabitants have not had such intense light over them for quite some time, so the new equipment might be a bit much at first.

I have a 30g reef with 760w of MH/PC lighting, but I acclimated the system over a 2 month period without a hitch.

Cajun, I don't know what you have along with the 36watt PC, but I'd say you are well within limits. If anything, that might not be enough for demanding animals such as anemones. Try cutting a few hours off the photo period and add an hour or so every few weeks. The tank will adjust, it just takes time.

Patience is key to being successful.

Hi Cajun! I have a 10 gallon nano as well. I have 64 watts of PC lighting over mine and I would not go any less. IMO, I believe a 10 gallon to be too small for a BTA (bubble tipped anemone) or any anemone for that matter. They will often shrivel up and move because the water quality must be perfect for them. As far as breaking in the corals, you must start with a reduced photo period and increase the photo period a little each day until you reach your optimum. HTH
