Lighting stands for MH
A very crazy question from someone who has been doing this hobby forever but looking for a new idea.
I have a 220 gallon acrylic tank. I want to get away from having a canopy due to the heat of the MH's. My intent is to purchase a Hamilton system and I am looking for some sort of a stand for each end to fit securely on the edges of the tank. I have to be at least 8 inches away from the top due to acrylic. I can certainly make them myself, but I am looking for a picture of a successful piece already in place. I am trying to stay away from retrofits unless someone can give me a better idea. Thanks All!

Hey!
Personally I haven't seen anything other than a pendant. As you said, making some could be great. You could use acrylic, wood, aluminum or anything that could be visually pleasing. You will be unique! I would make some out acrylic. ![]()

Got to agree with R/C, I think a pendant would be the way to go here.

Fortunately my openings are exactly where the MH lights are located. I think I will try to make some sort of stands for this light with slots where the fixture will fit to prevent from falling into the water.
I will take some pictures and let you know how it works.

My Hamilton Reefstars came with wires to hang them. I don't see why you couldn't make some sort of stand to hang them from instead of using the ceiling....
