my first tank
Hi all well i just started ny first tank And i have a very basic question. should i be leavingmy light onall the time. I have a 15 gallon tank salt water, and a coral life light that is 26 watts. iam just curious if it needs to be on all night as well.
And also any advice on staring a new tank would be awesome. thanks all. |

What kind of animals do you plan on keeping in there? I would guess that you'd want to simulate the natural setting as much as possible. My tank is cycling right now and I'm keeping the lights on 8 hours a day and I'll bump that up to 12 hours a day once the cycle is done.

I would only keep them on for a maximum of 8-10- hours. Do you have any actinic supplementation?
For instance, I keep my actinics on for 12 hours, but my halides are only on for 8 hours max. |
