Acclimating to new lights
Ok, I understand the concept of acclimating the inhabitants to new lighting. But once those guys are happy and "feeding" off of all that new light, what do you do about the new additions? Lets say I add a new frag from a tank that has been raised under normal lighting and I add it to my 10Watts per gallon reef. Do I start over with the whole tank or would it be best to turn off one of the three, 250W HQI"s and place the newbie under the light that was turned off. The thought here is that some light would be available from the remaining 2 lights but it wouldn't be direct. Slowly moving the frag more directly under the two lights left on until fully exposed, then bringing #3 light back on.
Thanks, Jakedad |

I normally try to put coral that come from "low light" tanks either at the bottom of the tank, or somewhat shaded. They can adapt easier to the high light better than most think, so putting it at the bottom, in a corner or shadowed area will work just fine.
