Buying used lighting

I found a guy local to me selling two 175 MH lights (bulbs, electronic ballasts, etc). At a 100.00 its sounds like a good deal. When examining the setup, what do I look for to ensure everything is in proper order?

Check the wiring first off and make sure there are no cracks in the insulation, That would be a real problem. Make him plug everything in and make sure it works before you leave. How many hours are on the bulbs????

Bulbs are about 9 months. I believe the last roughly 12 months, right?

OK, so I got my lighting today and here is a photo of it:

Highlights are:

2 bulbs (about-7 months of use said the owner): 1 10K, 1 20K

1 Ballast from Hamilton Technology-175W
1 Ballast from Cool Touch Lighting -175W

2 mogul lighting fixtures, which I plan on buying replacements. I paid a 100.00 bucks for the setup, which I think was a good deal. I was told that the lighting is only about a year old. Both appear to be working without issue. This is my first MH setup. I did not realize that looking at these bulbs at full power was like looking at the sun!
