Do you have a pic of the fixture? Maybe you could retro fit something to the legs to raise it up. I am not familiar with this fixture myself, therefore the confusion.
I would like to increase the distance between my Orbit HQI lamp (48") and the top of the aquarium. The lamp comes with mounting legs but they just don't give me the height I need to do maintenance and feed. It also came with a nice suspension option, but I live in a parsonage and can't put anything on the ceiling. Does anyone have a plan for a devide that would fit across the tank (the short way) that could be used to rest the lamp with mounting legs on it. I'd like about 10" of clear space between the lamp and the top of the tank.
Thanks.

I don't have a picture, but it's just a Current USA Orbit HQI + PC actinic lights. It measures 48" long and about 16" front to back. It comes with mounting legs that are about 5" long making a clearance between the light and the top of the tank about 4". This is installed on a 75 gallon tank.
Would it be possible for you to put a makeshift canopy on the tank?

In a LFS I saw a set of powder coated metal brackets that fit across the tank from front to back. The mounting legs supplied with the fixture rest on top of these brackets which increases the clearance between the fixture and the top of the tank. I think I know someone who could fabricate this for me, but I was hoping someone would have a plan and materials list.
I was kind of hoping some one else would pitch in here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
