Satellite vs Orbit Power Compact - Help!
What is the difference between the Satellite Lunar Lights and the Orbit?
Both are 48", 4x65W PC, with lunar lights. The only difference seems to be the shape and the price (orbit is higher). Is there something I am missing. What is your preference? |

First off, welcome to Reefland!!!!!
Secondly, I have no experience with either lite. Have you tried our search function? I am sure you would come up with something that could help you out. |

Thanks for the welcome charlie. I tried the search function and didn't get any results. I imagine since the orbit is a little more expensive it must have some upgraded parts - or the style costs more. I was just curious about it before i buy one. The lights total output is 260W. I assume that is good enought for a 75g tank with live rock, polyps, and some soft corals. Correct me if I am wrong. I know more light is better espescially if I want SPS corals ect, but i cant afford the metal halides.

The Orbit fixtures have 3 powercords: one for the lunar lights, 1 for each half of the PC's. This allows the use of timers for dusk/dawn simulation. The Satelite fixtures obly have 2 cords: 1 for lunar, 1 for the PC's.
Hope this helps. |

I have heard good things about the Orbit PC fixtures, they seem to be pretty good quality. More expensive doesn't just mean more expensive either.

Do understand your coral limitations with choosing these lights, before you make the purchase. You will be fine with soft corals and lps corals, but should not really try to get into an SPS corals or clams, nor anemones.

I prefer MH but have been experimenting with T5. They are the same money as PC, they work better, have cheaper bulbs, and can keep more corals with them. If you havent purchased yet you should look into these.
