halogen lamps

Hi i have a 150W halogen lamp that buliders use in dark places in the waor place, i was wandering if this would be suitible for use over my fish tank?

I don't really think that those lamps have the correct spectrum that you would be looking for my friend. What types of corals do you want to have? IME, lighting is one of the things that you may have to spend a little cash on. My suggestion would be to get the lighting you want right from the get go, otherwise, you end up spending more than you are good for. Believe me, I have spent more money on lighting than I am good for because I didn't do enuf research to start with. Hope this helps.

That light would be GREAT, for a refugium. You can grow LOTS and LOTS of algae, but I don't think you would want that in your display tank.
