I don't know what the PAR is for the Ushio 150w 14,000K HQI DE lamp because it's faily new and Sanjay Joshi doesn't list it on his lighting website.
What ballasts do you have???
Hey!
From some previous posts, I am confused. I have the 48inch Sunpod by Current, and I switched out the bulbs to USHIO's 14k. The Sunpod only comes with 9 white & 9 blue LED's. Since there are no supplimental actinic lighting, I thought 14k's would do the "trick". It seems like everyone on this forum is pro 10k. I was told that USHIO's 150 watt 14k have a very high par. Am I wrong? Should I go with the 10k next time? I have heard that the only 10 or 14k bulb to beat USHIO's same K lamps are aquamedics? True? What would be the highest Par lamp for my ballasts at 14k & 10k?
Sincerely,
Ralph

Ninong
standard ballast with Sunpod. Sunpark Model 120-MH150. Electronic HID ballast. M81, M142
So what would be your opinion?
I don't know. I've never used them and I've never seen any testing reports on them. I've used only 250w 10,000K HQI DE lamps by BLV and AB run on an M81 ballast. I have seen tanks lit with 150w 10,000K HQI DE lamps (BLV) and they looked nice. I have also read test reports on those on Sanjay Joshi's website. BLV and Ushio are the same lamp.
One would expect that a Ushio 150w 14,000K HQI DE lamp would be a little bluer and have somewhat less PAR than a Ushio 150w 10,000K HQI DE lamp on the same ballast. I know that the BLV 150w 20,000K HQI DE lamp is really blue but it has less than half the PAR of a BLV 150w 10,000K HQI DE lamp, which is to be expected.
