Re: Cant find info on my odyssea ballest

well as far as i can find they need strong lighting like most other photosynthetic anemones and im sorry to say 2 x 25w is not strong lighting, ide say 150w MH or same wattage in T5's would do the job.

what size tank do you have?
Condylactus gigantea get fairly big, about a foot in diameter.

    cheers james

Re: Cant find info on my odyssea ballest

    hmmm... not 30gal

    Dimensions 91 x 30 x 76cm/36" x 12" x 30"
    Surface area
    0.27 sqm/2.91 sq ft/ inches sq in
    Volume 212 l./47 gal. (56 US gal.)
Probable volume 191 l./42 gal. (50 US gal.)

is the tank actually 30" deep or is that a typo?
im assumeing it gonna have a sand bed so thats another 3" plus live rock to so thats another 6"-12" aprox.

so the anemone could be anyware between 21"-15" deep, if it is 30" i think you would need at least 250w 10k MH for that because of the depth the anemone could be at.

    hope this helps, james

Its a custom made 30 gal. Its actually 2 feet deep. I used a 5 gallon water cooler and filled it with 1 gallon at a time. 6 times up the stairs with the 5 gallon water cooler and it was filled

Re: Cant find info on my odyssea ballest

yeah thats more like 24" deep.

    Dimensions 91 x 30 x 61cm/36" x 12" x 24
Surface area 0.27 sqm/2.91 sq ft/ inches sq in
    Volume
    170 l./37 gal. (44.91 US gal.)
Probable volume 153 l./33 gal. (40 US gal.)

i think 24" is at the trasition between 150w and 250w, personally i would go with 1x250w 10k MH

    my tank is
    Dimensions 91 x 46 x 46cm/36" x 18" x 18
Surface area 0.42 sqm/4.52 sq ft/ inches sq in
    Volume
    191 l./42 gal. (50.46 US gal.)
    Probable volume
    172 l./38 gal. (45 US gal.)

and i have 1x150w MH in the center, i keep a BTA (Entacmaea quadricolor) and it seems to be doing fine, it has dubbled in size in about 3 months ive had it.

    hope this helps, james
