Most corals can adapt to that lighting so you should be OK. And no, you can't run 150w or 175w metal halide lamps on 250w ballasts -- the lamps might explode.
I have upgraded my lighting on my 55 gallon reef tank. I am now running a sunpod 2-250 watt 14000k with 18 LED lights (1/2 and 1/2 blue and white). Worried this is too much. I currently have anemones, soft bubble corals, clams, tube worms, frog spawn, brain coral, green star polyps. Am I ok with this lighting and if not can I run 150 or 175 watt on same ballast?
Thanks for any help.

ow not fun!the lamps might explode.
Thanks for the feed back. I jsut didn't want to harm what I have with a stronger light. The light made a wonderful difference as for the appearance of the tank.
