Question lighting question

how much is too much lighting. im thinking of straping a 400 14k MH light on my 60gal. is this going to be too much lighting. with antics it is goign to be somewhere arround 510watts. or should i just see about selling the MH and getting a t-5 settup

What are the tank's dimensions? In particular, how tall is this tank?

What do you plan to keep? Mostly SPS or mostly softies? Perhaps a little of everything?

All of those factors have a bearing on what sort of lighting would be ideal.

my tank is 18" tall right now. there is a pic of my tank. im running cp lighting right now on loan. the cp lighting i had well is made by jebo need i say more. im eather goign to keep the MH or just go with a 6 bulb t5 set up
what do you think. as far as what i want to put in the tank. well what ever looks nice at the LFS.
well the sponge did not make the move RIP.

I wouldn't even consider a 400w metal halide for that tank. It isn't tall enough for a 400w lamp and it's too long for a single lamp. I think T5's would be much, much better.

that is what i was thinking. know anyone that wants a good deal on a 400 MH
the tank is 48x15x18
