Sump Lighting

I just changed my bulbs out from the LOA to the GE energy smart bulbs. They a half the price and come 2 to a package.

They are the Daylight 6500k, 26w = 100w bulbs. I have used bulbs like this for a few years now with great results. They will grow coralline like crazy as well as all your macro algae. I have even grown softies, LPS, and some SPS under them.

I have place rescued corals that were without zoathid down under them so I could feed them in the low flow. I rescued a hammer, bubble, large candycanes under them. Their colors came back after much care and are doing great up in the main tank now. These corals were being thrown out my a local LFS because of them being bleached out.

Mark,

These are screw in flourescent bulbs and they are sufficient to grow macro-algae and some SPS??? My experience is these don't give off much heat, so I could add them to the cabinet under the display tank without creating additional heat, a problem I already deal with. That's fantastic, thanks as well for the link.

Got a question. Do you mount them horizontal or vertical? And, how far off the waterline are they?

I mount them inside clamp fixtures. I after clamping them in place I use tie straps to secure them real good.

They are about 14" of the water.
