That is a nice color! What method are you using to acclimate your corals to the new bulbs?

Re: Giesemann megachrome 14500 coral 250 watt

not much since I wasn't turning them on for more than 6 hours a day recently so I'm just cutting down to 5 for a few days and will gradually bring it back to 8 hours in the next week or two.

Re: Giesemann megachrome 14500 coral 250 watt

Ya, I like the new look much better.
I was cutting down the hours with the crappy lights cuz I figured maybe they were doing more harm than good, so is my plan above ok?

Re: Giesemann megachrome 14500 coral 250 watt

Louise,

Sorry I missed this thread... I absolutely love this bulbs and have nothing but positive things happen in my tank since installing them. You'll be amaized to see that despite the 14.5K number color is nowhere near the blue that some of the lower K bulbs have. Like CV 12K for example. It will be crisp white color with just a hint of blue in it and I would suggest adding some sort of actinic supplementation. One drawback on these is their price tag.

yup, I know, $97.00 CAD each
I already have 2-96 watt actinic in the fixture, should these be changed also?

How long have the actinic bulbs been in there. If it is more than a year, yes.
