When I had my PC''s, I used the coralife bulbs also, so I know a tiny bit. I think that is probably the best option there. Are you happy with them??

I found replacements, what's the difference between:
    420nm actinics
    and
    460 nm actinics?

    Louise,

I use 130w Sunpaq bulbs for actinics on my anemone tank, I believe they are 44" long instead of the 36" like the 96 watters from Coralife. The color is not overly impressive but not too bad either. (I know, not very convincing... )

I tried using Coralife in my 5' fixture but they are simply too short to cover entire length of the tank, although the color wasn't too bad( albeit pinkish looking to my eye).
With the megachromes I'm using VHO's for now but looking to install t5's in the future.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Are you saying that I don't have to put 96 watts in my fixture? mine are 34" square pin.....

Weez, I don't think he is saying that. I think most of that type fixture would be for the bulb that it came with.
That would almost be like saying you can run a 250w halide with a 175w ballast. It just doesn't happen. HTH

No, I am not saying that at all. I mearly stated that in a similar fixture, only 5' long instead of 4' I have to use 44" bulb wich is also square pin. You do have to put 96w bulb in your fixture but it doesn't really have to be Coralife. I personally like SunPaq and that's the point I was trying to make.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Re: Giesemann megachrome 14500 coral 250 watt

I am using the Geisemann Corals and I love them. BTW, Geisemann doesn't really label these bulbs with a K rating. My corals had much more pop that with the EVC's I was using before. There seems to be a bit more blue, but without sacrificing much PAR. The Corals have almost as much PAR as a lot of 10K bulbs. Growth has been pretty good under them, too.
