75 gal. what corals can i keep with this lighting??

i have a 75 gal tank with 90lbs of live rock. i have a coralife aqualite 260 watt pc. with 130 watts 10,000k and 130 watts 420nm. i also have 2 -70 watt viper metal halide hang on tank fixtures WITH 14,000K DOUBLE ENDED BULBS. is this enough to keep sps and hard corals??? ALSO, WHICH IS BETTER 10,000K, 14,000K, OR 20,000K????

Hey there,

If it were me, I would probably want to go with a combined fixture with halides and PC's, or something like them. as of right now, depending on how long your tank has been set up, I would stick with some softies and some of the lower light lps corals.
How long has your system been set up?

Re: 75 gal. what corals can i keep with this lighting??

its still in the cycling process with the live rock. i'm just trying to plan ahead and make sure i have every thing i need before i spend any more money on some expensive corals just to have them die. i already had the pc fixture and the combined fixtures are around $600+ for a 48" tank so i figured it would work just as good seperated. you dont think so? anyways, down the road, once i have a mature tank do you think i will have to upgrade if i want anemones or sps corals?

Yeah, those 70w halides aren't gonna do much for sps or anenomes, not enuf intensity.
I like your plan ahead thoughts tho, very good thinking. For a 75 gal. tank, you could end up with 2-250w halides and whatever supplementation you would like, PC, T5, or VHO. My personal favorite is the Reeflux 10K bulbs, but "K" rating just runs down to personal preference. HTH

Yep, I would think so. They are also great corals to start with. Do a little research on what you want to get, and I am sure you can get things going, just remember to go slow and be patient. God knows, if I had been patient, I could have saved a ton of money!!!!!

You could spend around $250.00 and get what you want to keep what you want.
Custom Aquatic has the coralvue 2 bulb systems for $109.00 item # LT-CV-T5RK2-4

Do you have a link to custom aquatic? Guess I could search for it though.

Nevermind, I found it.
