Aquastarlight ?
I have the opportunity to purchase a 2x150 aquastarlight for rather a good price.
Although a 250 would be preferable, would this be good for sps over a 120 (supplemented with up to 4 96w pcs) Anyone have any experience/comments on this particular model? |

While a 150 HQI is a good lamp, I feel its insufficient for an SPS tank. Can you keep SPS with it? I am sure you could, but I will willing to bet a dollar to a thousand that the growth, coloration, and even general health will be ten-fold better with at least 250s. That pretty much goes for all coral IMO. As long as acclimated properly, they all seem to do better with more light.

Hi Jase ~
I agree with Perry that the 2x250w model Aquastarlight would be better for SPS. The 2x150w model would be adequate for most SPS provided the corals were carefully positioned in the aquarium, but the growth and coloration would be better with the 250 watt lamps. I have the 2x250w Aquastarlight Future fixture and it cost me just a bit more than 600 bucks brand new. Ninong ![]() P.S. - I just noticed your comment about supplementing with up to four 96w PCs. This would certainly add a lot to the two 150w HQI lamps, so it would certainly be adequate for your purposes but I still think that in the long run you would be happier with the two 250w HQI fixture. ![]()
