I can do some asking around, but I think it will work. My personal opinion is to stick with the VHO.
I bought a ARO VHO ballast from a friend and was going to use it along with a 250 w metal halide for my 55g reef. The local aquarium store said VHO was totally outdated and he highly recommened T5 because it is more efficient. After doing some research, I believe that a VHO ballast is compatible with T5, you just need to change the end caps. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and if it is even worth making the conversion or if i should stick with the VHO

NOthing beats VHO actinic for color, but for PAR T5 is way better. I know ARO makes a T5 ballast, do you have a model #?
Yeah I wouldn't go as far as to say VHO is outdated. They are still a great option in my opinion.
