Do you think these T6 fixtures are any good?
Just saw these and was wondering what everyone thought of them based on description. If anyone has experiences with these or this site, please let me know that as well. They seem almost too good to be true.
48" 216W (4-54 watt) Quad T6 Fluorescent Light Fixture (W/B) - 506041 I am thinking of this for a 75 gal tank and putting two of them on it. |

about to buy lights...
I would avoid that particular vendor... Do a search on them for yourself though. As for T6, that vendor is the only one that advertises that bulb.... I think they are playing on the marketing. T5 has TONS of options, where else have you ever seen T6 even mentioned? I haven't seen it anywhere... |

Re: Do you think these T6 fixtures are any good?
Thanks for the link. I did some more research and found the same answer, so I think they are off my list. What about Hellolights? I see they have a retrokit for 2 T5 bulbs that is fairly affordable with reflectors and all. Which brings up another question and I will search some more, but for a 75 gal tank, howm many T5 bulbs and which type (actinic / daylight) are recommended? I want mostly softies and LPS, but may try a few of the easier SPS up closer to the top.

Re: Do you think these T6 fixtures are any good?
I have never done business with Hellolights, but I have heard good things about them though.
I like to do business with DIYReef.com Reef Aquarium Lighting and Supplies - DIYReef myself, Deb is close by and a member of my local fish club. (It also helps that shipping is only one day for me.) I have a total of 5 bulbs over my 90, 4 are overdriven, 1 is on a workhorse 5 ballast. For a 75, I would do at least 4, if not the same 5 I use, but you may not need to overdrive them. If you do a pair of Workhorse 5's, that will run 4 54W bulbs, and either the TEK2 or IceCap SLR reflectors, and you will be off to races. As for color, that is up to you, but I like what I have: 1- 11K D+D 1- 6.5K GE 2- "true actinic" 1- Actinic Plus You may have other options, I have been considering replacing the 6.5K with a 3K bulb. |

I actually found the TEK fixture that is very affordable so I may go with tht and that way I can have the open top tank I like. Now, should I go with 6 bulbs or 8?
